The hilltop northern area of Ermoupoli called Ano Syros offers panoramic views of the island, the port and views of the sea and surrounding islands.  Syros also has a unique religious history for Greece since it shares both Roman Catholic and Greek Orthodox roots. Its landscape is dotted with both types of churches.
